Fire Recovery hikes

Sugarloaf State Park

Sunday March 25th 2018 - to

Sonoma Ecology Center staff and park naturalists will host four more Fire Recovery Hikes on Sunday, March 18, Friday, March 23, Sunday, March 25, and Friday, March 31. These hikes are designed to teach people how to interpret fire landscapes that burned in the recent wildfires. Come see the land recover. The Saturday and Sunday hikes run 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The Friday hike runs 9:30-11:30 a.m. Hikers will be assessing burned trees and watching for special “fire follower” wildflowers. Discussion questions include: Why did this happen? What does it mean? How do we prepare in case it happens again? Walk will be 2-3 miles over mostly flat terrain and a few steep inclines. Wear sturdy footwear, and bring trekking poles if you typically use them. $10 for the hike, and parking fees apply. For tickets, visit www.brownpapertickets.com, search “Sugarloaf.”
