Medicinal plant walk at Quarryhill

Quarryhill Botanical Garden is offering a Medicinal Plant Walk led by author/grower Peggy Schafer of the Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm, and Chinese medicine practitioner Sean Fannin on Sunday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m.-noon. Join them for an informative stroll through the Quarryhill main garden to identify plants in the collection that are recognized for varying health benefits in traditional Chinese medicine.

Schafer is the author of The Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm – A Cultivator’s Guide to Small-Scale Organic Herb Production and a frequent lecturer at colleges of Oriental medicine, conferences and farming events, where she addresses herb quality, cultivation and conservation, and issues affecting Chinese herbs. Fannin specializes in Chinese herbalism, medical Qigong, and client education as a clinical practitioner of Chinese medicine at the Center for Traditional Health Arts in Petaluma.

Quarryhill Botanical Garden is famed for its vast collection of plants from East Asia, set in a secluded garden of tranquil ponds, gently rolling paths and scenic vistas. The fee for the Medicinal Plant Walk is $20 or $15 for members. Please register in advance at quarryhillbg.org/medicinalplantwalk.html. Quarryhill is located at 12841 Sonoma Hwy., Glen Ellen.
