Fires and traffic, or serene and green?

Oakmont West Recreation Center

Thursday March 21st 2019 - 7:00pm to

Sonoma County and the San Francisco Bay Area stand at a crossroads. For decades the nine-county region has been a leader in protecting greenbelts and open space. With the pressing need for affordable housing and the ever-expanding tourist industry, will these longstanding land use policies stand up to development pressure? Will Santa Rosa build up downtown near transit, or sprawl into the countryside? Will expansion of wineries and other businesses along Highway 12 make traffic insane?

The Oakmont Democratic Club will feature a presentation on these issues by Teri Shore of the Greenbelt Alliance. She will also discuss options from a policy perspective and examine the fire recovery and rebuilding decisions that are transforming our County.

The Oakmont Democratic Club March 21 meeting will be in the West Rec Center in Oakmont, starting at 7:15 p.m. with registration at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Shore is the regional director of the Greenbelt Alliance North Bay. She leads advocacy efforts to protect open space and encourage good growth in Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties.
