April 28 – “From House Pet to AKC Champion,” by Jan Young

When Jan Young retired from being a developmental pediatrician 15 years ago and got a 12-week-old Samoyed as a pet, little did she imagine where life with her dog would end up. Dr. Young will tell us about the fascinating and intriguing world of show dogs.

If you’ve never been into show dogs and think it is something you’d never do, take one little step in that direction. The excitement and challenge will pull you into a whole new world that is engaging, amazing, fun, and addicting. Since retiring, Young says her life “has mostly gone to the dogs,” although she still manages some clinics in the East Bay for children with physical disabilities, to which Niko accompanies her to serve as a therapy dog.
