Chinese garden culture talk at Quarryhill
Quarryhill Botanical Garden
Saturday September 6 - 7:00pm
Quarryhill Botanical Garden in Glen Ellen will host a slide show by Andy Ferguson on Sept. 6, “Chinese Flower and Garden Culture.”
Starting at 7 p.m., this talk explores the use and symbols of flowers, trees, fruit and other plants in Chinese art and garden culture. The symbolic use of certain flowers was often used to amplify a hidden meaning in a Chinese work of art. Learn more about China’s flower and garden culture in this talk.
Cost is $25 for non-members, and $22.50 for members. Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited so RSVP as soon as possible, 996-3166, or info@quarryhillbg.org.
Ferguson lectures widely to the Society for Asian Art of San Francisco and many other groups on Chinese culture, covering art, tea, history, and more. Ferguson’s book, Zen’s Chinese Heritage, is a well-known and widely used account of the development and teachings of Zen Buddhism.
