Glen Ellen Church to Celebrate 116 YearsGlen Ellen Community ChurchSunday August 15th 2010 - 10:00am to On August 15th, Glen Ellen Community Church will celebrate 116 years of ministry in the Sonoma Valley. Formed in 1894 by believers desiring that there be a Christian presence in the Glen, community members came together to make plans on forming a community church. With the help of several local leaders, the church building was constructed on land donated by Dr. Charles O’Donnell, on the corner of O’Donnell Lane and Henno Road in 1895. Records indicate that after a construction timeline of two months, Glen Ellen Community Church was ready to hold regular Sunday services with an initial membership of 14 people.
