Afiara String Quartet
Berger Center
Thursday September 9 - 1:30am to
Founded in 2006, the highly-acclaimed Afiara String Quartet was a 2008 winner of the prestigious Concert Artists Guild International Competition. The all-Canadian group includes violinists Valerie Li and Yuri Cho, violist David Samuel, and cellist Adrian Fung. They are currently The Juilliard School’s graduate resident string quartet, a post that includes assistant duties to the Juilliard String Quartet, as well as performances at New York’s Lincoln Center in May of 2010 and 2011.
On Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m., at the Berger Center in Oakmont, the Afiara will perform a delightfully diverse and appealing program: Haydn’s Quartet Op. 76, No. 5; Mendelssohn’s Quartet Op. 44, No. 2; and Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 2. This concert is open to all Oakmont residents and their guests.
