Take Jack Chorus

Kenwood Community Church

Saturday October 22nd 2011 - 7:30am to

On Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., Kenwood Community Church invites the community to “Love Like This,” a spirited and uplifting evening of music and song by the multi-talented and multifaceted group, TAKE JACK.

As experienced choral singers and musicians, the 10 members of Sonoma County-based TAKE JACK share a long history. Their repertoire includes original compositions and arrangements informed by classical, folk, rock and jazz traditions, running the gamut from a cappella to various combinations of guitar, mandolin, keyboard, harmonica, harmonium, banjo, drums, and bass.

All of the songs that TAKE JACK will be singing during the “Love Like This” performance may be seen as a love affair with something – a passion for living, for friendships and family, and the natural world – songs that celebrate the many simple blessings experienced in daily life. The concert will include a collection of original songs and arrangements, including “Wade In the Water,” “Death’s Got a Warrant,” and “Move Up” – as well as a fourth song, “Beatitudes,” written by group member Chris Smith, using translations from Aramaic.

To learn more about this ensemble, visit www.takejack.com.

TAKE JACK will also perform at the regular 10:30 a.m. church service on Sunday, Oct. 16.

For admission, there is a suggested donation of $15, and $10 for teens and seniors. For additional information and seat reservations, call 887-8690, or contact the Kenwood Community Church at 833-1087. The church is located at 9637 Channing Row in Kenwood.
