The Oakmont Sunday Symposium provides a forum for speakers on diverse topics such as science, history, politics, culture and current events. Attendance at the Sunday presentations is intended for Oakmont residents and their invited guests. The Oakmont Symposium streams the lectures live over the Internet at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Feb. 5 – “Creationism vs. Evolution, The Meaning to Our Society.” The speaker is Steven Newton, Public Information Project Director for the National Center for Science Education.
Feb. 12 – “The World’s Largest Machine: What’s It All About and Is It Proving Einstein Wrong?” The speaker is Sally Heath, who taught physics at Santa Rosa Junior College for 35 years. She will speak about the Large Hadron Collider located near Geneva, Switzerland.
