Special SVCAC meeting to discuss new housing sites
A special Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission (SVCAC) meeting is scheduled for Dec. 2, 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.
On the agenda is a presentation from county planners on an effort to identify possible sites in Sonoma County that could potentially be rezoned to encourage developers to build much-needed housing.
The county has identified up to 59 such parcels, up to 10 of them in Sonoma Valley, including two in Glen Ellen.
The Glen Ellen parcels are adjacent and located at Carquinez Avenue and Arnold Drive. Over a number of years the property owner, Glen Ellen Properties Inc., has attempted to come up with plans to redevelop the parcels.
The Sonoma Valley parcels include three in the Springs area, and four off of Broadway in Sonoma.
The county will soon be releasing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) regarding the 59 county parcels.

Also on the SVCAC’s Dec. 2 agenda is a review of a design of a new 100 percent affordable 92-unit multifamily senior housing development on a 2.29-acre parcel at Sonoma Highway and Siesta Way, currently a trailer park.
The development includes a single three-story building, with elevators, solar panels, 95 parking spaces, lobby, clubroom, dog park, and other communal areas.
