Jan. 26 Board of Supervisors briefing on SDC Specific Plan

JANUARY 15, 2021

County staff will present an update to the Board of Supervisors regarding progress on the Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) Specific Plan on Jan. 26 at 2:30p.m. The meeting is informational only— supervisors are not expected to make any decisions during this session.

Public comments regarding potential project priorities are welcome. Oral comments will be limited to a few minutes per speaker. Interested members of the public can submit comments via email to [email protected] Reference the SDC in the subject line of your email.

Sonoma County has compiled links to a comprehensive list of resources related to redevelopment of the SDC on its “Items of Significant Public Interest” page, sonomacounty.ca.gov/PRMD/Boards-Commissions- and-Committees/Items-of-Significant-Public-Interest/.

The page links to reports and summaries providing background information on both the site itself and the planning process to date. The county Board of Supervisors is slated to hear an update on the planning process at its Jan. 26 meeting.

The resources are elements of a summary report prepared by Dyett & Bhatia, the consultants spearheading the planning process. The resources are publicly available and can be downloaded in their entirety; they include a Profile and Background Report, which provides summaries and analysis of previous community workshops, land use, public services, regional socioeconomic trends, transportation, and infrastructure; a Community Survey Report, which offers analysis of responses gathered between April and June 2020 to a survey posted on the SDC Specific Plan website ( https://www.sdcspecificplan.com); a Community Conversations Report detailing public outreach efforts conducted by the consultants outside community workshops; a Community Workshop Report, compiling feedback from the Nov. 14, 2020 workshop focused on a draft vision statement and guiding principles for the Eldridge site; a timeline graphic of the project schedule; a draft of the vision and guiding principles for the site, incorporating feedback from the November community workshop; and a PowerPoint that will help guide the Jan. 26 board presentation.

Virtual meeting details will be available no later than 72 hours before the scheduled meeting at: sonoma- county.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.
