Pets Lifeline to host online auction

Pets Lifeline, a nonprofit animal shelter in the Sonoma Valley, announced it would once again host its “Tailwags and Handbags” auction online from Apr. 26 to May 3. This year’s auction will also include a virtual luncheon on Apr. 30.

The online auction will feature gently-used and new designer, and vintage handbags, murses (man purses), scarves, watches, and hats, along with eye-catching jewelry. To build the auction, Pets Lifeline is asking men and women to go into their closets, jewelry boxes, and attics to look for designer and one-of-a-kind items to donate to the auction. “We want those once-used handbags and other items that are in very good condition,” comments Nancy King, executive director of Pets Lifeline. “‘Tailwags and Handbags’ has become a muchloved springtime event in our valley that celebrates fashion, food, and friends while benefiting the dogs and cats of Sonoma Valley. Last year when the pandemic hit, we were able to switch to an online auction and found that it worked well and gave everyone more time to shop,” added King.

The online auction will open on Apr. 26 and close May 3. On Friday, Apr. 30, Nancy King will host a virtual luncheon from the new facility on 8th Street East. Their longtime partners The Girl and the Fig and Buena Vista Winery will provide food and wine that will be available for delivery or pick-up.

Donations will be accepted every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 801 Broadway in Sonoma. Information about donations, ticketing, and becoming a sponsor can be found online at or by calling 707-966-4577, ext. 111.
