Village Chat

I am ancestry hobbyist, so this Village Chat was right up my alley and I am thrilled to share it with all of you!

An email recently came to the Kenwood Press from Gordon Johnston of Scotland. He is on an ancestry quest and would like our help. Gordon thinks his ancestors may have ties to Kenwood.

Take a peek at his letter below and send us a message at [email protected] if you have any information that may help him connect his ancestral past to our town.

— Regina Rolland Hello!

This is a message from across the Atlantic from Shetland Isles. I am trying to find out if there is a Family History Society in Kenwood, California. I am trying to find about an ancestor of mine, his name was Adam Halcrow, and he lived in San Mateo California, he died in 1958. He and his brother, Peter, who lived in, or died in Orlando, Florida, sent home money to their parents here in Shetland to build a new house for the rest of the family, probably in the 1920s. It is called KENWOOD- no one knows how it got its name, and I am wondering if Adam Halcrow lived in Kenwood or if he had business links to the area, or if Kenwood is anywhere near to San Mateo. I found your email address on the Internet, so I thought I would send you this message! Apologies for troubling you – but I thought I would give it a try, to see what happens! Here’s hoping you can help!

Thank you, Best wishes from the Shetland Isles, Scotland! Gordon Johnston.
