Kenwood Firefighter’s Association educational scholarship
Now accepting applications for the 2021 award
Each year, the non-profit Kenwood Firefighter’s Association (KFA) awards several annual scholarships to Kenwood students entering or attending college. To qualify, students must reside in the Kenwood Fire Protection District, be entering or attending a state college, university, community college, or accredited trade school, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
The total of the awards varies from year to year. Since inception of the scholarships in 2002, the KFA has awarded over $30,000 to local scholars.
Applications are available at the Kenwood Fire Protection District Office at 9045 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood. Completed applications are due by April 30, and can be mailed to: Kenwood Firefighter’s Association, P.O. Box 249, Kenwood, CA, 95452. Call 833-2042 for details.
The application package must include the completed application; all high school transcripts, community college transcripts (if applicable), and all state college, university and/or trade school transcripts (if applicable); and three (3) letters of recommendation.
In a short essay, discuss your reasons for your selection of college, university, or trade school and your major and career path choice. What has influenced you to make these choices and how do you think that you will achieve them? Further, what do you consider to be your major achievements, including community involvement, scholastic achievement, leadership activities, and youth activities?
Upon review of the application package, applicants will be interviewed by the selection committee. Interview dates and times will be announced.
