Glen Ellen Forum Projects Committee organizes third annual town clean-up day
By Melissa Dowling
The weather cooperated with clear blue skies and a beautiful spring morning for the Glen Ellen Forum’s annual spring trash pick-up day on Sunday, March 21.
Twenty cleaners donned fluorescent vests, trash picker-uppers, gloves, and trash bags, and fanned out in masked teams of two from Madrone to Highway 12 to pick up litter and spruce up Glen Ellen. “We didn’t actually find much trash” said Archie Dickson, 17. of Glen Ellen, who covered the section of Arnold Drive that passes through Eldridge with his friend Jessie Cullum. Dickson did find a partially full bottle of fabric softener on the ground.
The Projects Committee offered a prize of fancy chocolates from the Chocolate Cow in Sonoma to the person who found the most interesting piece of trash. In addition to the fabric softener, frontrunners for the award found a full, unopened bottle of Svedka mango pineapple vodka, some credit cards, baseball caps, and a car bumper. The winning find, picked up by Janie Soto of Glen Ellen, was a bicycle frame. If anyone with the initials M.G. is missing a few credit cards that may have been lost on the streets of Glen Ellen, please email [email protected] In total, the crew picked up over 200 pounds of trash from Glen Ellen’s streets.
