Rotary Club tees off Fantasy Golf fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Glen Ellen-Kenwood is kicking off its 2021 fundraiser, a “Fantasy Golf ” raffle, starting June 1. This fundraiser features lottery-style scratch-off cards with players vying for a chance to win one of three prize packages, each worth over $2,000.

The “Fairway cards” for each of the prizes cost $40 and have 18 holes of golf with four possible scores for each hole. Players scratch off one spot per hole to reveal their score, and the person with the lowest overall score will win the prize package of their choice — three prize packages, three overall winners. Since only 500 cards total will be sold, your odds are pretty good!

There are three excellent prize packages to win. The “Golf Classics” package includes a round of golf for four people, caddies included, at the prestigious Mayacama Golf Club. This is a “bucket list” course for any serious golfer. Also included is a round of golf for four at the beautiful Fountaingrove Club, and four Rotary golf towels (priceless!).

The aptly named “Wine Country Delights” package includes Mountaintop Tasting for four at Kunde Family Winery, plus a magnum of 2014 Kunde Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon; wine tasting for two at Scribe Winery, plus two bottles of Chardonnay; dinner for two at Valley Bar & Bottle in Sonoma; a magnum of T.R. Elliott 2016 Pinot Noir; estate pairing (food and wine) for four at St. Francis Winery, plus a bottle of 2014 St. Francis Lagomarsino Vineyard Cabernet; a Mumm Napa tasting and tour for four; and a Laurel Glen Vineyard three-vintage vertical of Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a library tasting for four.

The “Family & Friends Fun” package will keep you entertained into the foreseeable future. It includes a Sonoma County Regional Parks pass; California State Parks pass; a day of sailing on San Francisco Bay for four people aboard the Kalimera, skippered by Catherine and Dave Jefferson; a round of golf for four at Valley of the Moon Club or The Club at Sugarloaf, carts included; a box of family games, puzzles, and more; four Rialto Cinema gift cards worth $25 each; Morton’s Warm Springs passes for two kids and two adults; a Children’s Museum of Sonoma County visit for four; a Schulz Museum visit for four; gift card to TIPS Roadside; gift card to Café Citti; gift card to Mary’s Pizza Shack; and a Chabot Space & Science Center family membership.

Notably, the gift certificates have expiration dates of Dec. 31, 2021. This should give you plenty of time to take full advantage of all your winnings.

The fun does not stop there. As an additional opportunity, there is a $5 “Longest Drive/Closest to the Pin” card with a $500 cash prize in each category. The club is grateful to Palooza Brewery & Gastropub for sponsoring the “Longest Drive,” and Tina Shone and the Shone Group Real Estate for sponsoring the “Closest to the Pin.” Only 1,000 of these cards will be sold, so you better act quickly.

Buy one card or many! The game is fun to play and you could win great prizes. Importantly, you’ll be supporting the Rotary Club of Glen Ellen-Kenwood and all its local projects.

Winners will be announced in August at a reception at the Kenwood Depot, assuming COVID restrictions allow.

Cards are available from any GE-K Rotarian, by mailing a check to P.O. Box 91, Kenwood, CA 95452, or by contacting Ann at 707-292-7983 or [email protected] More information can be found at www.glenellenkenwoodrotary. com.

The club meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month starting at 5:30 p.m., and is beginning to hold hybrid meetings (in-person and via Zoom) back at their “clubhouse” at the Kenwood Depot. Guests are always welcome. For more information, contact Kyle Fisher at [email protected] com
