It has been said of the pandemic, “We’re all in the same storm, but we’re not all in the same boat.” Fortunately, the Glen Ellen-Kenwood Rotary Club has survived the storm in good shape. Unfortunately, others in the community are in a leaky boat or have been thrown overboard.
During the pandemic, the club has focused its donations and volunteer activities on mitigating food insecurity in the Sonoma Valley. The club has supported local charitable organizations such as SOS, the Redwood Empire Food Bank, FISH, and the Kenwood School as part of this effort. Concurrently, the club has also made donations to assist environmental efforts and is working on a garden project at Dunbar School, among other things. You can help continue this work by buying raffle tickets for the club’s Fantasy Golf fundraiser. It’s easy and fun, and there are great prize packages. There are two ways to play: A $5 “Longest Drive/Closest to the Pin” scratch-off card could win you $500 cash. Special thanks to Palooza Brewery & Gastropub and Tina Shone and the Shone Group Real Estate for sponsoring those contests. A $40 “Fairway” scratch-off card gives you the chance to win one of three prize packages, all worth over $2,100. Select either the “Golf Classics,” “Wine Country Delights,” or “Family & Friends Fun” package. If you have the lowest score on 18 holes of scratch-off golf, you win your selected package! Winners will be announced in August at a reception at the Kenwood Depot.
