“A Year at Flatbed Farm” seminar series

There are two upcoming events at Flatbed Farm, both taking place on Aug. 22. One is “Arranging Summer Blooms,” a lovely morning spent with the proprietor, Sofie Dolan, and her friend Lori, a professional florist. Join these two women as they tour the farm’s flower beds, demonstrate the best ways to harvest blooms, and teach how to properly cut flowers. Participants will learn how to put together bouquets for all occasions and will get a chance to make their own to take home. The seminar cost is $125, which includes supplies, a vase, and a bouquet. It will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and there will be coffee, tea, and water provided as well.

The second event is “The Art of iPhone Photography,” a deep dive into the foundations of photography with Amanda Piela, a photojournalist and studio photographer based in Denver, Colorado. This seminar will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., during golden hour, providing a beautiful glow for your photos. The lessons will focus on the fundamentals of composing a beautiful image. The purpose is to “leave this class with the eye to capture a compelling story with nothing but your smartphone.” The seminar cost is $145 and includes supplies, a signature Flatbed Farm cocktail, and refreshments.

CDC-recommended protocols will be followed during both events. There is currently a maximum of 15 participants, so get your tickets now. To register, visit the “Upcoming Events” page at
