Hood Mountain Regional Park set to grow
120 acres will be added in Nov.
The 120-acre undeveloped property situated at 7777 Cougar Lane (up Los Alamos Road) will be bought for $1,020,000 by the Sonoma County Regional Parks Department and incorporated into Hood Mountain Regional Park on Nov. 16. Costs will be borne by funds from Parks For All Measure M, park fees, and an “anticipated” grant from a regional private foundation.
The property is being sold by Ex Deo Libertas, LLC, a California Limited Liability Company, at $8,500 an acre.
The acquisition will bring the total acreage in the county system to 16,275 acres.
There is $610,000 available in this year’s Hood Expansion Capital Improvement budget; the remainder of the cost will be included in First Quarter Consolidated Budget Adjustments.
State law requires the county to post a notice of intent for the acquisition at least three times before purchase.
