Jazz performance at Oakmont

The Oakmont Jazz Club will be presenting a starstudded performance at the Berger Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. The performance includes famous vocalist Jamie Davis and award-winning pianist Larry Dunlap, along with many other musicians who are just as talented.

Davis is one of the world’s most talented vocalists, with a deep baritone voice that is one of a kind. He has traveled as a guest vocalist for both big bands and orchestras to places such as Russia, Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe, and more. Dunlap has spent the majority of his life accompanying vocalists and transcribing music for many music publications. He was the pianist on Dame Cleo Laine’s Grammyaward- winning “Cleo at Carnegie” as well, which he traveled the world to perform for years. The number of awards Dunlap has received over the years is simply too many to list.

Other musicians set to perform on Nov. 6 include Steve Heckman, Leon Joyce Jr., and Ron Belcher. Heckman plays the saxophone and was recognized by the San Francisco Chronicle for creating one of the best albums by a Bay Area jazz musician. Joyce Jr., on drums, has played with stars such as Ramsey Lewis and Nancy Wilson, and critics call him simply above everyone else and at the top in the field. Belcher, on bass, has traveled the world and played with international stars, and has ended up settling as part of the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley, along with teaching at other Bay Area colleges.

Admission for this once-in-a-lifetime performance is $30, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. You will be seated at a table to watch the performance live, there will also be a dance floor to enjoy the music.
