Kids connect with nature at ecology center day camps

By Brandon Sparks

The Sonoma Ecology Center (SEC) has open registration for its winter season day camps at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. These camps include a Thanksgiving Day Camp and a Winter Break Camp.

For both camps, Sugarloaf staff and SEC education staff will take the kids off your hands and connect them with nature, where they will learn from and experience outdoor activities throughout the park. Nature hikes and lessons about the animals that live in the park will fill the sessions, with a closing circle and seasonal treats to end each day.

Both camps will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sugarloaf Visitor Center. The Thanksgiving Day Camp will take place Nov. 22–23, and the Winter Break Camp Dec. 20–22. Fees for the Thanksgiving Day Camp are $100, and $150 for the Winter Break Camp, with a $25 discount for Sonoma Ecology Center members or for a second child from the same family. The camps are for children aged 8–12, with signups for the camp allowing no more than 22 participants.
