Oakmont Veterans Day celebration draws crowd

The Oakmont Veterans Committee held its 17th annual Veterans Day program at noon at the Berger Center on Veterans Day. Approximately 160 veterans and their families attended. Featured speakers were Santa Rosa City Councilman Jack Tibbetts; Oakmont Board of Directors President Tom Kendrick,;and speaking on the history of Veterans Day, Kiwanis past-president Charlie Ensley and Kathy Ruiz, wife of the founder of the Oakmont Veterans Day program, Mel Ruiz, who passed away in 2014 from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam.

Oakmont Gardens and McBride Realty sponsored a complimentary lunch after the program, with wine service provided by Century 21 Realty.
