Glen Ellen Telegram

We are coming into my favorite time of the year here in the valley. Of course, I say this about the fall as well, but right now this is my favorite.
February is a magical time of green and yellow, chill and warmth, lengthening days but lovely dark nights, blue skies and rain. It has felt and sounded a bit like spring is coming a wee early in the last week. When I am up at dawn the wildland symphony is rising out of the quiet and calm of winter, fruit trees are threatening to bud, daffodils are opening.
This is a great season to get outside. Right here in our own community, Jack London State Park is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Sonoma Valley Regional Park bike path and trail system is open every day from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Before or after your walks, fuel up in town at the Garden Court Cafe, the Jack London Saloon, the Glen Ellen Star, Yeti, or The Mill, or pack a picnic of goodies from Les Pascals and the Glen Ellen Village Market. Shop local during this quiet season, enjoy outdoor dining or takeout, celebrate with your valentine — there are so many possibilities here in our little town.

Save the date of Saturday, March 26, for the Jackto- Jack Yacht Race, put on by the Jack London Yacht Club. The race takes place in Sonoma Creek, with the day kicking off at the Jack London Saloon. The boats are small-scale replicas of Jack London’s Snark. Look for more details coming soon.
The 31st annual Glen Ellen Village Fair is hereby scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. Yes, that’s a long way off, but the planning begins annually in April of each year. If you’d like to be involved as a volunteer as part of the planning team, have ideas, would like information on being a vendor, or have music suggestions or thoughts on a theme for the day and the parade, please email [email protected]
