Kenwood Firefighters Association Educational Scholarship offered

By Tony Ghisla

Kenwood Firefighters Association is now accepting applications for its 2022 awards program. The program started in 2002 and since that time has awarded over $35,000 to local students to help further their education. The students must reside in the Kenwood Fire Protection District; be entering or attending an accredited trade school, community college, state college, or university; and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.50.

Applications with the required details are available at the Kenwood Fire Protection District office at 9045 Sonoma Highway, Kenwood, or at the Kenwood Fire Protection District website under Firefighters Association. Completed applications are due no later than June 30 and should be returned to the fire department. Upon review of the applications, interviews will be held by the selection committee.

Bob Bales, retired superintendent/principal of Kenwood Elementary School, is the head of the selection committee. “This has been a great program for our local students. Many have passed through Kenwood School, and it’s fantastic to see them grow and prosper. I am looking forward to reviewing the 2022 applications,” he said.
