Delay in VJB hearing

New hearing date has not been set

By Chris Rooney

The Sonoma County Planning Commission continued to an undetermined date a hearing on the VJB Vineyards and Cellars project. Because the commissioner representing Sonoma Valley was not in attendance (along with a second commissioner), the remaining panel opted to delay moving forward at the May 26 meeting.

VJB Vineyards and Cellars, located Highway 12 in Kenwood, is a tasting room that also offers food and gelato, but there are expansion plans for both the facility’s services and the adjacent parking lot.

Henry Belmonte, whose family owns VJB, told the Kenwood Press earlier this year that he was hoping for a quicker process, as the building permit was in progress. The project has been in the planning stages for about four years, when the Belmonte family first go a go-ahead for expansion.
