Oakmont Cal Alumni Club June dinner

By Linda Williams

The Cal Alumni Club June dinner will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 5 p.m. Our speaker will be Glen Ellen resident Angela Nardo-Morgan. Her presentation will focus on ocean conservation, as well as the Glen Ellen Historical Society’s plan to create a museum and visitor center on the Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) campus.

Nardo-Morgan has an extensive background in science and works full time as director of development for the Marine Conservation Institute. Nardo-Morgan is board president of the Glen Ellen Historical Society and a councilmember on the North Sonoma Valley Municipal Advisory Council. Her background includes being a faculty member at both the College of Marin and Sonoma State University, working for Greenpeace, Russian Riverkeeper, and the Audubon Canyon Ranch, among other endeavors. Nardo-Morgan was also the first woman in Sonoma County to receive a Switzer Leadership Grant to establish the first watershed station in Sonoma Valley.

The cost of the dinner is $50 for members of the Cal Alumni Club and $60 for non-members. Even if you are not a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (Cal), you can join the club for $20 per year per household as a “Friend of Cal.” Donations to our scholarship program, which benefits Santa Rosa Junior College students who transfer to Cal, and which also supports the Cal Alumni Association scholarship programs, are also welcome.

Cocktails will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and are included in the price. There will also be wine on the tables. Reservations and payment must be received by Friday, June 10.

Call Linda Williams at (707) 322-6272 for reservations and payment information.
