We should call this jam-packed June! Whether you were counting down until the final day of school here in Sonoma Valley, which was Thursday, June 9, or are planning to take advantage of the longest day of the year during the summer solstice on Tuesday, June 21, this month is filled with special events!

By now, summer getaways are figured out and summer camp registration is done. Here in Glen Ellen, there is never a shortage of fun, easy things to do, even when you are short on time. June seems like a good month for a staycation here in Glen Ellen.

Oak Hill Farms is open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We recently stopped to grab some fresh produce and a dark chocolate bar with dried strawberries that my son wanted. Let’s be honest, I bought it knowing he probably wouldn’t like it, but I would … and I did. I usually see them at the Friday Farmers Market in downtown Sonoma, but wanted to visit Oak Hill Farms as a Glen Ellen neighbor. The farm offers tours every first Saturday of each month. There are more details at oakhillfarm.net.

Flatbed Farms recently shared a photo of an amazing sandwich on social media, which was made by pop-up guest, Belfare, at the Farm. My family stopped by for lunch, while I opted for more shopping. I also visited the website, which mentioned a Flower Crowns and More Floral Workshop on Saturday, June 18. Learn more at flatbedfarm. com.

Live music on Thursday evenings at Jack London Lodge continues! In the second half of June, you can enjoy entertainment from Loosley Covered (June 16), Jon S. Williams (June 23), and Sharyn & Davo (June 30). Shows are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., outside on the patio. Be sure to arrive early to snag a table.

Transcendence Theatre Company’s back at Jack London State Historic Park on Friday, June 17. This season features three shows: Let’s Dance (June 17-July3); Hooray for Hollywood (July 29-Aug. 14); and The Gala (September 9-18). More information and tickets can be found at https://transcendencetheatre.org Don’t forget: Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19! Just as the Glen Ellen Fire Department offers a wonderful Mother’s Day brunch, the Kenwood Fire Department is hosting a Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast from 7–11 a.m. A family-friendly breakfast that supports the local fire department and no one has to do dishes? Sounds like winning all around.

Recently, I was looking for an activity to keep the kiddos amused for a bit, so we made cookies for the folks at the fire station as a thank-you for the special Easter events they hosted. When we delivered them, we got a wonderful tour of the station and an up-close look at some of the engines. We also discovered that our recently relocated neighbor, Monica, took her grandson to deliver some special goodies, too. As one of the newest residents of the area, visiting local public safety departments is always welcome.

We wish you all a fun-filled June! See you next month!
