Glen Ellen residents Joan Rosenberg and Floyd Rocker were married at their new home on April 9.

Floyd, who works in Marcom, is originally from the east end of London, and Joan, who works in marketing and social impact, was born in New York, where she spent her childhood before moving to the Bay Area. Both have lived in the Bay Area for more than 20 years. The couple, who met three years ago via a dating app, recently relocated to Glen Ellen from Oakland.

As Joan and Floyd embarked on creating a life together, they planned an intimate wedding in the backyard of their Glen Ellen home. With friends and family coming in from all over the country and the U.K., they knew they wanted to support the local businesses for the celebration. The local community came together to ensure their wedding went smoothly.

“We love living here and wanted everyone coming to the wedding to get the full experience of what Glen Ellen has to offer. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, and we wanted to give back to the local businesses that are just starting to see life after two years of being affected by the pandemic,” said the newlyweds.

Over the wedding weekend, guests stayed at the Jack London Lodge, as well as at the Oléa and the Gaige House. Thanks to Sheryee at McCormick’s Mercantile, everyone received a customized wine tote, cork screw, and area map upon check-in. The bride and groom gave a “shout out” to Laura Schermeister for designing the maps, and to Melissa Dowling at the Kenwood Press for printing them, which allowed out-of-towners to explore the trails and area shops.

The Jack London Saloon hosted the welcome cocktail reception, as well as the after-party, where the bride and groom and their guests joined the locals for a good time (thanks to Kim and Bruce at Jack London Lodge for coordinating). The rehearsal dinner was held at popular Glen Ellen Star, and brunch pastries the day after the wedding were provided by the amazing Les Pascals patisserie.

Guests also enjoyed a biodynamic wine tour and tasting held at Benziger Winery, located just off London Road., and the Jack London Village offered the unused section of its parking lot for guests to park and board the shuttle. Wine Country Sanitary supplied VIP bathrooms.

All in all, the Glen Ellen community came together to help make Joan and Floyd’s special weekend one that they and their guests will never forget.
