Cranes for Ukraine

Fundraiser at St. Patrick’s church in Kenwood

Sonoma County Cranes for Ukraine, a project of the Sonoma County Japanese American Citizens League in partnership with Sebastopol World Friends– Chyhyryn, Sister Cities Santa Rosa–Cherkasy, Sonoma Sister Cities Association–Kaniv, and Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Kenwood, will host an Origami Crane Fold-In for Ukraine on Sunday, July 31, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 9000 Sonoma Highway, Kenwood.

Organizers have created the event to show they stand in solidarity with the country and people of Ukraine in their fight for peace, sovereignty, and democracy.

The goals, organizers state, “are to illuminate and keep focus on the plight of the Ukrainian people through the engagement of making paper cranes, the symbol of peace, and to collect donations to directly aid the people of Ukraine.” The folded cranes will be presented to the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco and people of Cherkasy, Chyhyryn, and Kaniv.
