Sonoma Speaker Series returns

Willie Brown is welcomed to the stage
Sonoma Speaker Series returns
Former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.

After being closed for over two years due to COVID-19, the Speaker Series is back! On Aug. 8, Willie Brown will be in conversation with Sonoma Speaker Series board member Laura Zimmerman at the Hanna Boys Center.

Brown is widely regarded as one of the most influential African American politicians of the late twentieth century. He was a two-term mayor of San Francisco after serving over 30 years in the California State Assembly, spending 15 years as its speaker. Brown has been at the center of California politics, government, and civic life for four decades. His career spans the American Presidency from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush.

From civil rights to education reform, tax policy, economic development, health care, international trade, domestic partnerships, and affirmative action, Brown has left his imprint on every aspect of politics and public policy in the Golden State.

Today, he heads up the Willie L.

Brown, Jr. Institute on Politics & Public Service, where he shares his knowledge and skills with a new generation of California leaders.

The event is from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the Hanna Boys Center auditorium, 17000 Arnold Dr., Sonoma. Tickets are available at
