Learn to speak in public
By Anne Reeves
Have you ever stood up to speak at a town hall meeting or to give a toast at a wedding — and frozen? Does the thought of speaking in front of a group make you nauseous? You are not alone.
Public speaking is stressful. It’s unnatural. It goes against all rules of safety and security. And yet, we occasionally have to do it. Toastmasters is an organization that, for the last 100 years, has been teaching people how to overcome the anxiety associated with public speaking. It’s a place to practice speaking on a weekly basis in a fun, supportive environment.
