Connolly wins assembly seat; other election results

By Christian Kallen

Damon Connolly, the veteran Marin County supervisor, held off a challenge from political newcomer Sara Aminzadeh in the race for the District 12 State Assembly seat. As of late Tuesday night, Connolly had 54 percent of the Marin County vote to Aminzadeh’s 46 percent; in Sonoma County, Connolly’s lead was a similar 55 to 45 percentage.

The Kenwood School District bond issue, Measure M, won passage, earning 1,184 yes votes to 593 no votes, more than enough to satisfy the 55-percent margin of approval.

Steve Rogers and Jon Foreman both won reelection to the Valley of the Moon Water District.

In the city of Sonoma, former police chief John Gurney was the top vote-getter for one of three open city council seats, with 1,952 votes. Patricia Farrar Rivas, with 1,930 votes, and Ron Wellander, with 1,612 votes, were the other candidates with sufficient totals to earn a seat on the city council.
