The following are some of the recent calls from the Glen Ellen and Kenwood area responded to by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sonoma Valley Substation.


January 3 2013
A big rig driver reported hearing a loud noise, possibly a gunshot, at 2 a.m., shortly after spotting someone stepping out from behind a tree in the 9000 block of Highway 12 in Kenwood. The driver stopped the truck a ways down the road but found only a small dent. Deputies examined the scene but found no one.

January 7 2013
A resident reported finding broken glass and expended shotgun shells at 10:30 a.m. in the 9000 block of Highway 12 in Kenwood. He thought they were caused by a trespasser the night before. Deputies looked around but found no further evidence.

January 8 2013
At about 9 a.m. deputies contacted the driver of a reported suspicious vehicle. The male transient said he'd run out of gas and was waiting for a friend to come help. No action was needed.

January 9 2013
An employee at the Glen Ellen Village Market saw a female put a bottle of alcohol in her purse. The woman was confronted outside and detained until deputies arrived. Deputies gave the woman a misdemeanor citation for petty theft.

January 10 2013
Residents in the 12000 block of Adine Court reported a burglary. A couple had allowed their homeless son to stay at the home and over time they started to discover that things were missing, including jewelry, a .45 caliber gun, ammunition, and tools. Total value of missing items: $25,000. Deputies have been trying to contact the son but so far have been unsuccessful.

Deputies resolved a disagreement on Marty Dr. between two people after being called out by a nearby resident at about midnight.

A group of eight juveniles were hanging around under the street lamp at Lawndale Rd. and Highway 12 in Kenwood near midnight. A neighbor called deputies and the kids were told to go home.

At about 8:30 p.m. a startled driver reported that a man in a white shirt jumped out in front of his car, possibly trying to flag him down, at the corner of Highway 12 and Arnold Dr. The incident was transferred to the CHP.

A resident of the 5000 block of Bennett Valley Road reported a petty theft after noticing that a watch was missing from the front room of her home. The watch was last seen the previous week before a visit to a relative. The woman believes someone came into her home while she was out. Possible leads were developed, but nothing has come of them.

At 11 p.m. two patients at Sonoma Developmental Center were pushing each other. They were separated and the issue was resolved.

At midnight a man in a small parked car in the 14000 block of Arnold Drive was contacted and told to move on.

A woman living in the 4000 block of Warm Springs Road reported that someone has been banging on her window. She was advised to call the Sheriff's department when it is happening so deputies can try to catch the suspect.

A caller said she and her mother were driving on Madrone Road when her teenage brother got upset and jumped out of the car. Deputies were dispatched and resolved the situation.

A resident in the 8000 block of Sonoma Mtn. Road reported a suspicious dark colored SUV parked nearby with its lights on and no engine running. The caller said they heard someone making turkey calls and were concerned about what might be going on.

Someone driving in the area of Dunbar Road and Trinity Road West reported driving past a female who appeared to be asleep in a parked silver pick-up. The driver then went past her again and said she was now looking at a map. Deputies went out, contacted the female, and everything checked out fine.

A resident in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. reported a suspicious man near her gate and hiding behind a tree. Deputies went out to the residence but did not find anyone.

Staff at the Kenwood Market reported that someone had broken into a metal cage that contained 5-gallon propane tanks outside the front of the store. The lock had been cut and the perpetrators stole nine propane tanks.

Silverware, two inflatable kayaks, and a jar of loose change (about $80), was stolen from a residence in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. There was no sign of forced entry.

Two bicycles were stolen from the front porch of a home in the 900 block of Carquinez Ave. One of the bikes had a value of $700.

A resident in the 100 block of Riddle Road reported selling a motor home to a person who gave them a check which turned out to be drawn on a closed account.

A resident in the 8000 block of Mission called to report a possible prowler. He said his wife had gone outside to walk the dog when she heard someone in the juniper bushes of a neighbor's property. Deputies went out but could not find anyone.

$100 in tools was taken from a truck parked in the 12000 block of Henno Road.

A resident in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. called regarding a neighbor who looked drunk and appeared to be carrying a shotgun. Subsequently, the girlfriend of the neighbor had apologized to the calling party and said that there was no gun. Deputies went out to the scene anyway, checked the neighbor's house for a weapon, but found no gun.

January 27 2013
Deputies went out around midnight to the Jack London Saloon in Glen Ellen regarding a reported fight between two males. One of the men had already left by the time deputies arrived. While interviewing the other man, deputies heard a third man inside the bar yelling and being verbally abusive to other bar patrons. Deputies approached the man and told him to calm down, at which point the man turned to the deputy and said, “Who the F___ do you think you are?” The deputy once again emphasized that the man needed to calm down, but he kept yelling and swearing. The deputy grabbed the suspect, a 49-year-old Glen Ellen man, took him to the ground, and arrested him. The man was taken to jail for resisting arrest, using offensive words in public, and public intoxication.

January 31 2013
Vineyard workers in the 700 block of Madrone Road reported that a man who appeared to be on drugs, and was bleeding from his back, approached them. The man swore at the workers and threatened to fight them. The man then got in a pickup and was last seen driving on Sonoma Hwy. toward Santa Rosa. Deputies put out a “be on the lookout” over police airwaves. Deputies could not find the man.

February 1 2013
A resident in the 9000 block of Clyde Ave. reported that someone had illegally filed tax returns using her social security number. Deputies gave her an incident report number so that the IRS could investigate the matter.

A woman in the 1000 block of Schulz Road called to report that her teenage son had erased everything off her calendar, gone into a rage, and had left on foot. Deputies located the teen around Sonoma Hwy. and ended up taking him to a bus stop.

A driver was stopped for speeding around 2 a.m. in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr. The deputy smelled alcohol and the man was slurring his speech. The 33-year-old Glen Ellen man was subsequently turned over to the California Highway Patrol, which arrested him for suspicion of being under the influence.

A resident of the 900 block of Madrone Ave. called to report that two friends were having an argument in the living room and were refusing to leave. The resident called back later and said the two had left.

Deputies went out to the 900 block of Martin St. regarding a noisy party with many cars parked along the street. Deputies told the partiers to turn the music down.

A Glen Ellen resident called to report that it looked like some transients were using electricity from the Glen Ellen Post Office via a long power cord.

A 58-year-old Glen Ellen man was served with an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant outside of the Glen Ellen Village Market.

Large pieces of trees were stolen from a property in the 700 block of Madrone Ave. Estimated loss: $2,000.

A man called from the 7000 block of Sonoma Hwy. saying he suspects that a man he knows put poison in a cup of coffee and then tried to give him the coffee. The caller declined to state the other man's name, and said the two had a financial dispute over a scooter. The man said he would call deputies back.

At a little after 8 p.m., deputies received a call from a resident in the 6000 block of Cavedale Road regarding a possible prowler. In an open field on the property, the caller had seen car headlights, and when her dog started barking, the lights went off. Deputies went out to the property but could not find anyone.

At the request of law enforcement from another county, deputies tried to confirm that a person of interest was living at a particular address in the 8000 block of Sonoma Mountain Road.

Deputies got a call from someone regarding an assault report at the Sonoma Developmental Center that occurred two years ago. The caller was trying to find out the status of the investigation.

Two different callers told deputies that battery had occurred on patients at the Sonoma Developmental Center. One incident happened on Oct. 23, 2012, and the other on Nov. 2, according to the callers.

Deputies got a call from a man driving away from a residence in the 7000 block of Sonoma Hwy. The man said he had just been to his ex-girlfriend’s house and that there was a drug dealer there. The man said he had gotten into a fight with the drug dealer, and said he was calling law enforcement because of his concern that drugs were being sold out of the home. The caller said he did not want to pursue any legal action. Deputies gave the man information about how to contact the sheriff department’s narcotics division.

A person parked in the parking lot of the Sonoma Valley Regional Park off of Sonoma Hwy. called to report that there were some loose dogs in the area that were sniffing and barking at the caller’s car.

Someone called from the Sonoma Developmental Center alleging that one of the patients had been the subject of physical abuse by an SDC employee.

A woman called from Glen Ellen saying that she was in the area of O’Donnell Lane and Arnold Dr. when a large dog tried to bite her. The dog was last seen going down Carquinez Ave. Animal Control was called.

Deputies went out to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park to assist in tending to a 60-year-old woman who had injured her ankle after falling in the area of the Vista Trail.

A resident in the 100 block of Griswold Ave. in Kenwood reported that a mobility chair had been stolen from the carport.

A resident in the 100 block of Trinity Road West returned home to find that the residence had been broken into. No further details were available.

A woman’s handbag was found in the 9000 block of Sonoma Hwy. near the Kenwood fire station.

Deputies got a report of gunshots in the 2000 block of Nelligan Road. It turned out to be someone skeet shooting.

A resident of the 15000 block of Woodside Court called to complain about a party nearby that had loud music with lewd and inappropriate lyrics. Nine cars were also parked in the area. Deputies went out and told the partiers to quiet down.

Staff at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park reported that someone stole money from a drop box at the visitor center. The amount stolen was unknown.

A resident of Adobe Canyon Road called to report possible marijuana cultivation equipment in the Sugarloaf area. Deputies said they would follow up.

Garbage in the creek was reported in the area of Henno Road. The matter was referred to Fish & Game.

An injured deer was reported on Arnold Dr., apparently having been hit by a vehicle. Animal Control was called to handle the matter.

Someone broke into a residence in the 800 block of Adobe Canyon Road and stole a number of items, including a television. The front door had been left open. Deputies went out and secured the area.

Someone reported seeing a large bone in a creek bed near the Lawndale Road entrance to Annadel State Park. It turned out to be a deer bone.

A neighbor of a Laurel Ave. home called to report that a garage door had been open for at least a week with no sign of the homeowner. Nothing more was reported on this matter.

A resident in the 800 block of Madrone Ave. called to report hearing sounds up in the attic and in the wall. The caller said they knew who was making the noise, and said this person was using voodoo on her. The caller also said the suspect had engraved smiley faces on some personal property.

A woman’s handbag was found in the bushes in front of the Kenwood fire station.

A resident of the 2000 block of London Ranch Road called to report a common scam in which someone is told they have won a lottery but must pay the scammer taxes in order to get the fund.

A resident of the 4000 block of Warm Springs Road called at 1:43 a.m. to report hearing two male voices outside the residence. The caller said she was having a problem with a relative who lives in a cabin on the property. A deputy went out and everything checked out OK.

A woman stole two bottles of wine from the Glen Ellen Grocery on Arnold Dr.

A resident in the area of Lorna Dr. and Cecelia Dr. said that someone was setting off cherry bombs.

A suspicious white van was reported near the entrance of Kunde Estate Winery. A deputy and the California Highway Patrol went out, and ended up helping the driver get gas.

A bike was found at Sonoma Valley Regional Park.

Deputies got a call from a resident in the Bristol Road and Schultz Road area about an unfamiliar male with long hair and an earring walking in the neighborhood. Deputies went out and contacted the male, who it turns out was a new Lawndale Road neighbor who was just taking a walk.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in front of the Kenwood Market around 10:30 p.m. A deputy contacted the driver, and everything was fine.

A white pick-up was parked in the 12000 block of Dunbar Road with a male sleeping in the vehicle. Deputies went out and told the man to move along.

Two syringes and a silver measuring cup were found on the ground at Plaza Park.

Deputies got a call about a deer hit by a car. Animal Control was called out.

A caller from a home in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr. reported that a male was refusing to leave the residence. No further information.

A resident of the 100 block of Trinity Road called to report that a neighbor spun the wheels of his car and glared when passing by the caller’s house. The caller felt this was threatening and wanted a deputy to talk to the neighbor.

A boat was stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 5000 block of Warm Springs Road.

A driver near the entrance of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park called to report a dog left in a car. The dog was not in distress and the window was partially down. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

There was a dispute between two men in downtown Glen Ellen over a driving incident, where one man reportedly told the other, “I’m going to @X%&@# kill you if you drive like that again.” Deputies went out and took care of the situation.

A resident of the 1400 block of London Ranch Road returned home from vacation to find a broken window, but did not find anything missing.

A caller from the 100 block of Jessie St. said that a Chihuahua had gotten out of the yard, and that the dog might be headed back towards its home in Sonoma. Animal Control was called.

A suspicious male was reported in the area of Sonoma Hwy. and Maple Ave. around 8:45 a.m. A deputy went out but did not find anybody.

The top to a Mazda Miata was stolen from the vehicle, which was on O’Donnell Lane.

A driver called from the area of Bonnie Way to report that a dog was loose and causing a traffic snarl. The dog had no collar or tags, and appeared to be a young Dalmation. Animal Control was advised.

A woman called from the 300 block of Warm Springs Road and said that her mother had told her that three weeks before, a fire truck had been behind her on Sonoma Hwy. and then followed her home.

People who use a summer cabin on Adobe Canyon Road reported finding women’s clothes and boots in the area. Towels from an outside bathroom appeared to have been used as well. There was a pry mark on the cabin door, but it looked like there had been no entry. A deputy went out, and also found a sleeping bag and beverage containers.

A resident in the 4000 block of Cavedale Road reported that $30,000 worth of jewelry had been taken.

Residents in the 2000 block of Adobe Canyon Road called to report that they had come back from vacation and their home had been broken into, and it looked like someone had been living there. No further information.

A call concerning a skunk or a rabbit in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos Ave. in Kenwood was referred to Animal Control.

A person in a brown Toyota parked on the corner of Marty Drive and Madrone Road was told to move along. The reporting party said the vehicle has been seen many times at this location.

While the reporting party didn't want any contact with the loud party hosts in the 1000 block of Robinson Way, officers went out to the area. The reporting party called back and said music had been turned down.

Loud music was reported from the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. at about 1 a.m. The reporting party said neighbors had loud music going on with an unknown number of people. One unit dispatched and the music was turned down.

Both a Sheriff's Deputy and Animal Control were called to check on a reported deer bleeding on the side of Highway 12 near Nuns Canyon Road at 8:40 a.m. No further information was available.

Loud music in the market at Arnold Drive and Madrone Road was turned down after an 8 p.m. call to the Sheriff's dispatcher. The reporting party was advised that the county lacks a noise ordinance.

Someone accidentally dialed 9-1-1 at 5:50 p.m. from a cell phone at the intersection of Warm Springs and Sonoma Mountain roads. There was no emergency.

Someone stole $500 from an envelope in the back of a car parked at a home in the 14000 block of Arnold Drive. The reporting party did not want a formal investigation.

A trespassing report was made about 8:30 a.m. from a residence in the 3500 block of Lawndale Road. There have been ongoing problems with subject(s) trespassing on the property and setting off illegal fireworks, as well as vandalizing a tractor and a fence. The reporting party requested to make a report and the event was listed as closed.

A resident of the 200 block of Adobe Canyon Road reported hearing screaming coming from behind the house at 8:35 p.m. Officers were dispatched, but were unable to locate what might have been mating animals, possibly cats.

Someone entered the back door of a business in the 14000 block of Arnold Drive some time in the morning and took a large tray of chocolate items that were being prepared for display. No report was requested, but the police are on the lookout for a new thief in the area.

On Griswold Ave., a neighbor's complaint about the other violating a restraining order requiring a 50 yard minimum separation was basically determined to be unenforceable in the present instance since the properties were within that limit. The reporting party was agitated that the neighbor was driving by and speaking through the fence. No violation was found.

A minivan driving well under the 55 mph limit and weaving over the double yellow line prompted an arrest in the 15000 block of Arnold Drive at about 8:30 p.m. The van initially ignored the red lights, then swerved and parked just in front of a telephone pole. The Deputy noticed an odor of alcohol and vomit, that the driver's eyes were watery and bloodshot and his speech was blurred. The driver admitted to having two, then three beers. A passenger passed out in the back seat failed to wake up after being prodded by the driver and an ambulance was called that took him to a local hospital. The driver later told the CHP that he'd also had a Long Island Iced Tea with the beer and apologized for driving under the influence. He was arrested by the CHP.

Six women staying at a remote compound in the 13000 block of Arnold Drive reported seeing flashlights and hearing a prowler or prowlers at 9:17 p.m. The reporting party also thought someone tried to enter the front door, which was locked. Deputies came out but did not find anything suspicious.

April 15 2013
A father on Bristol Road reported his 12-year-old son had run away at 9:30 a.m. The boy had gone to bed at 10 p.m. the night before but was gone when the dad checked on him at 6:30 a.m. The boy's bicycle was also gone and tree limbs had been laid out in the driveway to prevent quick egress. This was the second time the son had run away. According to the father, the son had no medical or mental problems and does not use drugs or alcohol. The son eventually sent a text message to the father with his location. There was no call back.

An anonymous called reported loud music at a residence in the 15000 block of Marty Dr. The party was shutting down when deputies arrived.

A suspicious circumstance report was called into deputies from the 3000 block of Cavedale Road. The caller said that a neighbor had written an 11-page rant, and the caller wanted to speak with a deputy about it.

Deputies went out to check out a suspicious vehicle in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr., but did not find anyone in or around the vehicle.

Someone in the area of Nuns Canyon Road and Sonoma Hwy. called about a marijuana cultivation nearby. The person was supposed to call back with a more exact location, but never did.

A suspicious white van with no license plate was reported parked on Warm Springs Road in Glen Ellen. A deputy went out and told the male occupant of the car to move along.

Deputies responded to a report of at least four gunshots in the Madrone Road and Sonoma Hwy. area, possibly from a nearby winery. A deputy went out but did not find anything.

A driver in the area of Warm Springs Road and Bennett Valley Road called to report that someone in a newer model Fiat had just tagged a directional sign by writing the word “Crash.”

An official from the Sonoma Developmental Center called to report a battery. One person had pushed another, causing a laceration to the back of the head.

May 1 2013
The window of a vehicle parked in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr. was broken, and various items were stolen. Some blood was left on the vehicle.

At 12:15 a.m., a suspicious vehicle was reported parked with the engine running in the area of Sonoma Hwy. and Madrone Road. A deputy checked it out and it turned out the driver was asleep.

A business was burglarized in the 9000 block of Sonoma Hwy. Someone broke into an outside structure and stole a pressure washer, chain saw, two weed whackers, and a leaf blower.

A neighbor of the Kenwood Depot on Warm Springs Road called at 10:08 p.m. complaining of a loud party that had been going on for some time. A deputy went out and told the partiers to quiet down.

Around 6:30 p.m., deputies got a call about a skunk behaving erratically on the grounds of Kenwood School between the soccer field and the principal’s office. The caller was concerned that maybe the skunk was rabid. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 2000 block of Lawndale Road at 5:30 p.m. Deputies went out and told the male occupant of the vehicle to move along.

May 9 2013
A man parked his car near the Arnold Dr. entrance to Sonoma Valley Regional Park and went for a hike. When he returned, his vehicle had been keyed and his tires were slashed. The man said he might know who did it, but later failed to respond to attempts by deputies to contact him.

A resident in the 1000 block of London Ranch Road reported that a hotel in New York had just called to confirm use of the resident’s credit card, but the resident had never authorized this. The hotel subsequently denied the fraudulent attempt to use the card.

A neighbor of a residence in the 8000 block of Sonoma Hwy. reported hearing an alarm going off and the front gate was wide open. The caller saw two vehicles in front of the home. Deputies went out and made contact with two subjects, who said they were relatives of the homeowners. This was confirmed.

A resident in the area of 13000 Arnold Dr. called about 9 p.m. to complain about a loud party. Nothing further.

Deputies received a complaint around midnight about loud, rave-like music coming from a house in the area of Arnold Dr. and Hill Road. Nothing further.

A suspicious man was reported at 9:30 a.m. walking along the 15000 block of Sonoma Hwy. The man was tall and looked disheveled, leading the caller to think it might be a person who went missing in Annadel State Park earlier this year. Deputies went out and determined the man was not the missing person.

A resident in the 1000 block of Hill Road said they went to the grocery store and their credit card was denied. They called the bank, and bank staff reported that two fraudulent purchases had been made with the credit card, totaling $540.

A driver reported a dead deer in the 9000 block of Bennett Valley Road. The call was referred to Animal Control.

Deputies got a call about a possible explosion in the area of Arnold Dr. and Sonoma Hwy. A deputy went out but could not find anything.

A camper in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park called at 10 p.m. to report a group of underage teens partying and playing drinking games. A park ranger was not available, so deputies went out and broke up the party.

Deputies were called to quell a 20-person party in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. at 11:30 p.m. after a neighbor’s complaint of yelling, screaming and loud music. They told the revelers that if they had to be called back, the plug would be pulled. The party settled down.

A reported suspicious vehicle in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. was gone by the time officers arrived, just after midnight.

The air patrol was asked to check out a reported vegetation fire in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr. in the middle of the afternoon. No subsequent information was filed.

A private investigator checked in at 8:30 a.m. to say he’d be in the area until mid-afternoon in the 15000 block of Highway 12 in Glen Ellen.

Animal Control was called to take care of a wounded deer near Kenwood Inn & Spa at 6:13 a.m.

Deputies took information about an incident in the 15000 block of Arnold Dr. just after 8 p.m. An SDC client suffered a fractured middle finger after grabbing a staff person’s hair and the pair falling down.

A resident in the 1000 block of Adobe Canyon Road called to report two surveyors trespassing on her property. A deputy went out and contacted the two, who were working for an engineering company hired by a neighbor.

A total of three gunshots were heard coming from the area of Shaw Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Deputies went out but could not find anything.

Deputies went out and contacted the occupants of the car, who said they were just resting. Deputies told them to move along.

A person living on Woodside Court said a phone scammer had convinced them to go buy a $299 gift card, and then was trying to get the card number. The resident got wise and refused to pass along the number to the scammer.

There was a rash of criminal activity in the area of West Trinity Road, Sylvia Dr. and Bonnie Dr. The first report came in at 3:50 a.m. when a resident called to report that his dog had been growling at his window and he heard his pick up starting. The homeowner looked outside and saw a man trying to steal the truck. The homeowner yelled at the man, who promptly got the truck stuck in an automatic gate, exclaiming, “Holy sh---!” The thief ran off, leaving a BB gun and a flashlight on the ground. Deputies went out and set up a perimeter around surrounding streets, and brought in the Henry 1 helicopter to aid in the search. The man, described as a six-foot-tall white male, could not be found.

Subsequent investigation discovered that a total of 20 unlocked vehicles in the area had been ransacked and items stolen, such as loose change and GPS devices. In one case, the suspect climbed over the fence of a victim’s property, entered one unlocked vehicle and then used a garage door opener to gain access to the garage.

As of press time, no one has been arrested. Detectives think that there may be a link to several other petty thefts out of unlocked vehicles on Bennett Valley Road, Grange Road, and Los Alamos Road.

Deputies got a call from someone about a sheep that was hogtied in the back of a pickup truck with out of state plates parked at the Glen Ellen Post Office. The caller said the animal was suffering and should not be tied up like that, and that he had blocked the pickup with his vehicle. Dispatch advised the caller not to block the pickup. Deputies arrived in time to follow the vehicle with the sheep to a location on Sonoma Mountain Road, where Animal Control was called.

Deputies spoke with people staying in a vacation rental in the 13000 block of Arnold Drive after neighbors complained of a very loud party just before midnight. While the party had died down by the time deputies arrived, the complaining party said there have been ongoing issues with the house and said they would be willing to file a complaint, as they said they could not reach the owner. The visitors were asked to take their conversations inside.

A Kenwood man was arrested on suspicion of burgling homes in Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park. Jonathan Wilson, 33, was arrested at the county courthouse where he was at a hearing on another matter. Officers from Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa discovered a large amount of jewelry at Wilson’s Dawn Hill Road residence, items linked to previous burglaries.

She estimated the value of the stolen clothes at $2,000, which included pairs of Joe’s jeans and Urban Outfitter jeans.

A resident of the 12000 block of Dunbar Road reported that a relative had forged his signature on a loan document.

Deputies got a call regarding a man screaming and yelling in his home on Laurel Ave. The caller said the man sounded very angry. A deputy went out and eventually got the man, who was apparently intoxicated, to come out of the home. Inside the home the deputy found broken items, such as a table, chairs and bottles. The deputy made sure the man was safe and OK, and then allowed him to return to the house.

A couple had parked on the Arnold Dr. side of Sonoma Valley Regional Park around 1 p.m., and returned around 2:30 p.m. to find that someone had smashed the front passenger window and stolen a satchel containing a wallet with cash, credit cards, and a driver’s license.

A resident of Randolph Ave. called to report that he had told a process server to not come on his property, but he had done so anyway and left legal papers. The caller wanted to report trespassing.

Deputies got a call at about 2 a.m. about a man sleeping on the counter inside the Kenwood Post Office. A deputy went out and told the man to move along.

A Glen Ellen resident called to report a possible mail theft. The caller had picked up a package at the Post Office that was supposed to contain a FasTrak, but the package had been tampered with, and no device was in the package.

A very loud party was reported in the 2000 block of Lawndale Road around 5 p.m. A deputy went out and told the partiers to turn down the music.

Deputies responded to an early morning call from the 100 block of Adobe Canyon Road concerning six suspects stealing plants from a neighbor’s yard and items from their garage. The reporting party was somewhat agitated and hung up during the call, then called the Sheriff’s station back. A check of the area found no plants taken or items missing from the garage.

The next night, about 1 a.m., the same party on Adobe Canyon Road called to report someone breaking into her house through a sliding glass kitchen window. Deputies dispatched to the residence did talk to two young people staying at a vacation rental on the property. No evidence of a break-in was found.

Garbage was found dumped at a construction site in the 100 block of Robertson Road, including discarded mail with the garbage owner’s name and address. When deputies visited the address, the resident denied dumping the garbage.

A row that broke out when a restaurant worker quit led to a disturbance report in the 13000 block of Arnold Drive at about 10 p.m. After a verbal altercation with the chef, the reporting party went to the Glen Ellen grocery to call the Sheriff’s office. The deputy advised the reporting party on how to get a restraining order and stood by as the worker cleared his things from the restaurant.

Two separate residences of the 15000 block of Marty Drive in Glen Ellen called to complain about a loud party just after midnight. The party was over by the time deputies arrived.

A badly damaged computer found just outside the main Oakmont entrance was turned over to a Sheriff’s deputy in the 1000 block of Adobe Canyon Road. The computer was claimed by the owner’s brother, who lives out of state.

A lost password led to confusion and an alarm at a vacation rental in the 100 block of Hoff Road. The alarm company called out deputies who found the persons at the rental had an appropriate rental agreement. The password was recovered and no further action was taken.

An attempted burglary at Kenwood Fast Gas set off an alarm at 5 a.m. that called deputies to the scene, where they found a perimeter storage shed partially opened, with damage to the door. The business owner arrived and said nothing had been taken. The surveillance system was not working at the time.

A person previously reported missing from the 900 block of Cecelia Dr. returned home at about 4 p.m.

Items worth less than $950 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos in Kenwood. Missing were a pair of gloves and a music CD.

At 10 a.m., a resident of the 9000 block of Los Guilicos reported items stolen from her possibly unlocked car, including a backpack ($60), baby clothes and diapers ($40), a ring-sling ($70), and a Canon PowerShot camera ($400). The victim did not hear anyone and had no suspects.

Another theft from a vehicle in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos was called in at 4:15 p.m. although the victim had discovered it that morning before going to work. The pickup was parked in the driveway and showed no evidence of forced entry. The stereo face plate and tools worth about $400 were taken.

A resident in the 4000 block of Warm Springs Road called at 5 a.m. after hearing someone pull on the front door. The resident yelled at the person, and they ran away.

A stolen 1992 Lexus was recovered in the 4000 block of Cavedale Road.

At 10:45 p.m. deputies responded to the 900 block of Lawndale Road regarding a report of a teenage party with alcohol involved. A deputy observed a number of teenagers, estimated at 14 to 15 years of age, with signs of intoxication. Some teens fled the scene while others were detained. An adult on the scene who said he was the homeowner stated he was not allowing underage drinking, and was asking any teens who were doing so to leave. The detained juveniles were released to their parents or other responsible adults. Deputies forwarded information to the District Attorney’s office regarding a potential charge of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Two small dogs escaped from their owners in the 700 block of Adobe Canyon Road. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

A resident in the 15000 block of Burbank Dr. called around 8 p.m. regarding someone possibly pushing a buzzer on the gate of the driveway of the house, though the caller couldn’t actually see anybody. A deputy went out and determined that the buzzer had simply malfunctioned.

A person living in a residence in the 100 block of Adobe Canyon Road reported that someone was trying to get into his room, and there shouldn’t be anyone else in the house. The person in the room said, “Hello,” and then he heard someone say, “Sorry.” A deputy went out but could not locate anyone.

A purse was stolen from a winery in the 14000 block of Sonoma Hwy.

A local transient was seated outside the Jack London Lodge when he was approached on foot by an acquaintance, who then struck him in the face. The suspect left the area and could not be located. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Owners of a vacation rental in the 1400 block of Hill Road said there was a possible attempted break-in sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 13. A kitchen window was found broken, but it looked like nothing had been taken from the home.

A suspicious vehicle with a male occupant was reported over a two-day period in the 11000 block of Dunbar Road. The caller said the car was beat up, with bungee cords holding up the bumper. Deputies went out, ran the plates, and then talked to the owner of the vehicle.

Residents of Hoff Road called near midnight to complain about loud music and singing nearby. A deputy went out but by the time he arrived, all was quiet.

A deputy made a traffic stop on Sonoma Hwy. near Arnold Dr. He spotted drug paraphernalia in the car along with two pounds of packaged marijuana. The driver, a 29-year-old male from Novato, also had an outstanding felony warrant for a probation violation. The man was arrested.

A motorist was driving erratically in the 9000 block of Sonoma Hwy. A deputy saw the car, pulled it over and contacted the female driver who showed signs of intoxication. The California Highway Patrol was called and the took the woman into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A neighbor of a residence in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos called to report that the neighbor’s garage door was wide open but the residents were not at home. Nothing further.

A Maple Ave. resident called to report a suspicious man and woman in the area. A deputy went out and everything checked out OK.

Vandals egged a car in the 900 block of Sonoma Glen in Eldridge at about 1 p.m. The car was the only one egged in the neighborhood. A Deputy went out and talked to the victim.

Someone reported seeing a suspicious person in the 8000 block of Sonoma Hwy. at 1:22 p.m., walking with two others and entering the Kenwood Market. The reporting party believed they were associated with the theft of a vehicle parked in front of her house. The reporting party’s husband said he knew where the subjects live. The status of the stolen vehicle was confirmed and it was recovered by the CHP. A deputy was unable to locate the subjects at the store.

A resident of the 1000 block of Lawndale Road heard a male voice shouting “Help!” at 4:30 a.m. Deputies and medical personnel scoured the vineyard and fields near the residence but did not find anyone.

Around 11 p.m., deputies went out to the 100 block of Laurel Ave. in response to a disturbance call. Upon arriving, deputies heard a lot of noise and crashing inside the home. Deputies told a man inside the house to come out, but he refused. The man, who appeared intoxicated, than came out on the porch, but still refused to follow the instructions of the deputies. The 52-year-old Kenwood man was then arrested for resisting a peace officer. Inside the house, deputies found a number of chairs broken and some empty bottles of whisky.

December 1 2013
Deputies were dispatched to follow up on a 5:30 p.m. call from a business in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. about a drunk customer who wouldn’t leave. A heavyset woman with shoulder-length brown hair was bothering the customers and calling the reporting party names. She left on foot in an unknown direction before deputies arrived.

A resident of the 9000 block of Frederica St. in Kenwood called at 2:45 p.m. to report a petty theft that must have taken place between 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 and 4 p.m. on Nov. 30. The mailbox had been broken off or knocked down and was found a few blocks from the residence.

A grand theft report was taken at 3:30 p.m. from the manager of an inn in the 10000 block of Sonoma Hwy. A diamond and sapphire necklace was reported missing or stolen on Nov. 13, but the inn manager had just discovered that no report had been made yet to police.

A resident in the 1000 block of Adobe Canyon Road reported that her credit card had been fraudulently used to buy $1,400 worth of merchandise.

A woman residing in the 4000 block of Cavedale Road called to report receiving verbal threats from her estranged husband over the telephone, and was afraid he was coming to the house. A deputy went out to the residence, but it turned out the husband was not coming to the home. The deputy informed the woman about potential steps she could take in civil court regarding her husband and her safety concerns.

A suspicious vehicle was reported parked on Henno Road at Warm Springs Road. A deputy went out but could not find the driver.

A resident in the 9000 block of Sonoma Hwy. reported a trespasser. A deputy went out and contacted the trespasser and told him to move along.

Deputies received a complaint around 1:45 a.m. about a group of 15 to 20 people in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. partying and making a lot of noise. By the time a deputy went out, everything was shut down.

A Bernese Mountain dog was reported lost in the area of Trinity Road and Cavedale Road. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

A cyclist was riding in the 4000 block of Warm Springs Road when a truck that was passing accidentally dropped a number of items into the road, but apparently did not know anything had fallen out. One of the items was a rifle in a case. The cyclist stayed by the items until deputies arrived.

Two women and a man were reported drunk and yelling at around 11 p.m. in the 13000 block of Arnold Dr. A deputy went out but could not find the subjects.

A resident in the 400 block of Old Bennett Trail called to report that blank checks had been stolen from her kitchen table, and some of them cashed for $20,000. The resident had a suspect in mind, and told deputies she would call back later.

A Kenwood resident called to report that a neighbor’s home on Jessie St. was possibly being robbed. The neighbors were not at home, and there was a suspicious pick-up truck in the driveway, and a man wearing a knit cap walking around. By the time deputies arrived, the truck and the man were gone. The deputies checked out the home, but nothing appeared to have been tampered with.

Deputies were dispatched to the 9600 block of Clyde Ave. regarding a report of a suspicious camper trailer parked in the neighborhood. A man and woman were found living in the trailer. The man was on probation. A probation check was conducted and deputies located drug paraphernalia and narcotics. A 41-year-old Santa Rosa man and a 42-year-old Santa Rosa woman were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The male was also charged with violating his probation.

A 21-year-old Forestville man was found trespassing on a gated private property on Old Bennett Trail. The man had been told previously not to be on the property. Deputies found the man was in possession of burglary tools, which had been used to break into a locked vehicle. The suspect was also found with a credit card not in his name, which was discovered to have been used for unauthorized purchases. The man, Sebastian Strickland, was arrested for suspicion of felony burglary and felony possession of burglary tools, as well as for theft by use of access card, disorderly conduct, loitering and trespassing (all misdemeanors).

A trespasser was reported in the 100 block of Griswold Ave. Deputies went out and contacted a woman who was then told to vacate the premises.

A resident in the 900 block of Sonoma Glen Cir. called to report that someone had egged his car. Apparently, this had happened to someone else about a month earlier.

Someone had fraudulently used two checks originating from a residence in the 9000 block of Sonoma Hwy. The checks were written for $923.17 each.

A suspicious vehicle was reported around 10:30 p.m. backing up in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos Ave. and then backing into an alley and parking. A deputy came and checked out the vehicle. It turned out the vehicle was associated with a resident on Cypress Ave.

Someone stole the ID of a resident of the 15000 block of Marty Dr. and used it to apply for a DishNet account in the victim’s name. The victim said he needed documentation of the event because his credit score had been negatively affected.

A suspicious white pick-up was reported in the 14000 block of Arnold Dr. A deputy checked it out, but no one was in the vehicle and everything seemed OK.

A resident in the 9000 block of Los Guilicos Ave. called around 3 p.m. to report that two women were fighting in front of her house. The caller lost sight of the combatants as they continued their fight toward Shaw Ave. Apparently the altercation was over a cell phone. About that time, another resident in the area called about the fight, and said that one of the women lived on Los Guilicos Ave. A deputy went out and was only able to contact one of the parties to the fight, who told the deputy that she didn’t want to report anything.
