Your attitude makes a difference
A positive and conscious attitude requires faith, patience, and gratitude in all you do. It has forgiven the past of all its injustices, sees what’s working now, and instantly transforms reality. When we talk about reality with money, a considered, consistent attitude of fulfillment can be powerful. Knowing your needs are already met is also a powerful attitude. But in a world that values speed, productivity, and consumption, this attitude can be hard to maintain.
Present-moment consciousness – and having gratitude – taps directly into the nature of abundance. What lies behind us or before us is small compared to what lies within us.
If gratitude creates “abundance consciousness,” how can we develop it for ourselves? For years I’ve had clients create a gratitude journal, listing three things they were grateful for during the day, writing them in their journal without duplication before going to bed. It had to be three different listings each day. Start focusing on what you’re grateful for and you’ll move into the source of abundance.
Deepak Chopra created a video explaining abundance consciousness (www.deepakchopra.com/video/article/767). He said, “When you focus on the things that you are grateful for, it opens you to the source of all those things. It also removes your ego, which is a nice way of getting in touch with your spirit. You cannot have ego/identity and feel grateful at the same time. The highest level of gratitude is the gratitude for existence itself. When you say ‘thank you, God, for making me just as I am,’ or ‘I’m grateful just as I am,’ and that’s enough, you reach the highest level of gratitude. Not only being grateful for what you have, but also for who you are.”
When I bring gratitude into daily life, I experience more self-acceptance and self-love. I develop more confidence toward my purpose in the world. This feeling of alignment somehow makes the phone ring and new clients appear… which equates to greater income. I’m showing up without resistance, lowering my walls of fear, increasing the flow of abundance. It’s an amazing feeling and comes with the least amount of effort and stress. It doesn’t mean I sit back and do nothing. It’s just less stressful to live without resistance, and in alignment. I do notice more lessons show up. With my increased self-acceptance, I have greater willingness to surrender my personal hang-ups and accept how I can turn a situation around.
If you’re worried and anxious about money or the lack of it in your life, there are a few situations to address. First, calm your fear by asking yourself “What am I afraid might happen? How probable is that fear? What other possible results can I think of? What do I hope will happen?” When you take the time to answer these questions, it slows the fear response. The answers remove fight or flight reactions so you can think rationally.
Second, if you don’t know what to do next, ask for help from someone you trust who has a positive outlook. You don’t need any naysayers to add to your fears.
Third, start a gratitude journal listing all that you have to be grateful for and all of the people in your life who appreciate you.
At this point, you’re transforming your reality with small, significant steps. Remember, be patient; it takes time and you’ll need faith in your higher self. Be grateful for what is already working around money. Be willing to take some positive action steps. You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it.
