Gives new meaning to ‘dumpster fire’

A Recology truck driver noticed smoke from the back of his vehicle while servicing bins along Randolph Avenue on Friday afternoon, April 19. The quick-thinking driver drove straight to the Kenwood Fire Station up the street, where the truck’s inner-bin was pulled out and dumped onto the concrete sidewalk and parking lot. The fire was quickly put out. No cause has been determined. Several CHP and other law enforcement vehicles showed up at the scene. Kenwood now has drive-in emergency service. Photo by Dano Vukicevich
