Business Beat for Nov. 15, 2019
New tasting room proposed in KenwoodA use permit application was recently filed with the county for a 688-square-foot private tasting room on a 1.5-acre parcel at 211 Adobe Canyon Road.
Known as McClaren Wine, tasting would be by appointment only in an existing building. The owners, Steven and Heather Law, live in a separate building on the property, and will staff the tasting room themselves.
McClaren currently produces 1,400 cases a year in a warehouse in Sonoma.
The application states there would be no events, traffic generation of one or two cars a day, and no truck traffic.
If you want to find out more about the use permit application, contact the county planner assigned to the project, Crystal Acker, at Crystal.Acker@sonoma.county.org.
Foundation offers recovery fundsThe Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation (SCGGF) is offering funds to support agricultural workers and families impacted by the Kincade Fire.
If you are a vineyard management company or vineyard owner and have employees who live/work in the burn area, the foundation has funding to offset lost wages and evacuation costs. If your employees were evacuated or had loss of work prior to Oct. 26, you can fill out an application. Applications are available at www.scggf.org/fire-recovery-support/.
Demand for assistance has been high. SCGGF is currently executing phase one of its recovery plan in which recovery funds are being distributed to those employees located in the burn zone. They anticipate opening additional funding (Phase II) after Nov. 30. Phase II funding will likely provide support to employees who were evacuated or suffered lost wages but do not live or work in the burn area.
