Read Across America comes to Dunbar

The Cat in the Hat returns to Dunbar School in Glen Ellen for the 4th Annual “Read Across America” event on Friday, March 8, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Join other volunteer readers and enjoy the afternoon with Dunbar students reading and eating popcorn.

Dr. Seuss epitomizes love of children and reading. This event, featuring the iconic character ‘The Cat in the Hat,’ will culminate a 31-day reading incentive program in which the children read daily, converting minutes to miles. Students track the Cat’s progress on a map beginning at the Statue of Liberty, and zigzagging across America. The Cat will make his final stop at Dunbar School.

You can be a part of this fun event by contacting Linda Dezhad at 935-6070 in the Dunbar office. Choose a reading time and grade level; reading stories to classes will be scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Bring a favorite book or use one of the school’s. As Dr. Seuss once said, “You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child”.

Dunbar School is located at 11700 Dunbar Road, Glen Ellen.
