Yacht Club grant distribution at VOM Winery
Sunday September 8th 2019 -
Put Sunday, Sept. 8, on your calendar for the Jack London Yacht Club’s (JLYC) annual distribution of grant funds to community organizations. Tommy and Dick Smothers will be there to hand out the checks to the worthy recipients.
The party starts at 3 p.m., and will be held at Valley of the Moon Winery in Glen Ellen. Cost to attend is $30 for yacht club members, $40 for non-members. Reservations are required. You can buy your tickets by going to www.jacklondonyachtclub.org.
There will be a beautiful cheese and charcuterie spread, videos, yacht club awards, and apparel for sale. If you are already a JLYC member, show your card for free raffle tickets.
The concept of a JLYC yacht race was born on a napkin one night by Commodore Jim Burch and Vice Commodore Ana Dominquez, as they were brainstorming on how to host a benefit for local nonprofits and fire departments after the 2017 fires. JLYC is a nonprofit organization, and any proceeds go back to the community.
In April, JLYC held its first fundraiser, the first annual “Jack to Jack” boat race, with 35 boats, all replicas of Jack London’s sailboat The Snark, traversing a 0.7-mile stretch from the Jack London Lodge to Jack London Village.
