Volunteers beautify Glen Ellen

On June 1, MariJo Dickerson (left) and Juliana Holmstrom helped build edging for new plantings at the Glen Ellen Post Office.
A hearty band of Glen Ellen volunteers beautified the creek side of the Glen Ellen Post Office parking lot at the north end of the town bridge on Saturday, June 1. It was an effort by the Glen Ellen Forum Projects Committee, funded by county Tourism Impact Funds, to clean and celebrate “downtown Glen Ellen.”

Ten cheerful workers cleaned, leveled, drilled, hammered, dug holes, laid mulch, secured redwood supports, and planted native grasses and shrubs, all in an effort to highlight the beautiful Sonoma Creek and support our town as it faces changes from the fires and SDC transition. A kiosk and Little Lending Library are to be installed by the end of the month.

Hard-working eager-beavers included Janey Soto, Jody Ketchem Davies, MariJo Dickerson, BJ Blanchard, Malcolm Blanchard, Diana Hindley, Juliana Holmstrom, Laurie Pike, and Leslie Vaughn, assisted by Rey Zarco, Omar Serrano, and directed by local Glen Ellen contractor/landscaper Mark Gonzalves.
