GE mixed-used project up for review
The county’s Design Review Committee will take a look at the design and site plans for a commercial/residential development at 13647 Arnold Dr. in Glen Ellen.
It’s proposed that an existing two-story mixed-use building be reconfigured to result in 3,300 square feet of ground-floor commercial space for a restaurant (the Garden Court Café will add 200 square feet of space), and general retail space (currently taken up by McCormick’s Mercantile).
After remodeling, there would be a total of eight residential apartment units between both the upper and lower floors.
The parking lot next to the restaurant off of Arnold Drive would be reconfigured and restriped, resulting in one additional space for a total of 15 spaces. A new 10-space lot would be added with an entrance on the Railroad Avenue side of the property.
The Design Review Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7, 3 p.m., in the hearing room of the Permit and Resource Management Department at 2550 Ventura Ave. in Santa Rosa.
The building is owned by local resident Stephen Sorkin and his Abraham Farms, LLC.
The project got a thumbs-up from the Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission in May, concluding that architecture and colors would fit well within the downtown Glen Ellen area.
