KFA announces scholarship recipients
The Kenwood Firefighters Association (KFA) recently announced the recipients of its 2019 scholarship program.
The association has awarded brothers Garrett and Bobby Jepson $1,000 each for their leadership and academic achievements, said Jack Ayers, president of the KFA.
Garret is a May 2019 graduate of the Maria Carrillo High School and on his way to attend Baylor University in Texas where he plans on a degree in business. Garret played basketball for Carrillo and was a member of the Annadel 4-H Club.
Bobby graduated from Maria Carrillo High School in 2016 and is entering his fourth year at Cal Poly. He is majoring in Agriculture and Environmental Plant Science. Bobby served as a teen leader in his church where he traveled to Tijuana to help build homes. He was one of 10 Bay Area students selected for the Youth Leadership Corps for Outward Bound California.
“We are very pleased to help Garrett and Bobby. They are motived to achieve and we wish them the best of luck,” said Ayers.
Ayers gave special thanks to members of the scholarship selection committee – Bob Bales, Joan Dinner, and Dee Sand. Applicants were evaluated on a variety of factors, including but not limited to community involvement, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, and youth activities.
