Permit Sonoma posts meeting recaps on YouTube
If you can’t make it to a public meeting, Permit Sonoma has started a series of meeting recap videos on its YouTube Channel.
All of Permit Sonoma’s videos are available at www.youtube.com/channel/UCDuZWKIuf_4-rZ__fdo3bPg/featured.
Two recent recaps of interest to residents in the unincorporated areas of the county include the Board of Supervisors’ June 4 approval of the Comprehensive Planning Work Plan, and approval of the county’s updated Onsite Waste Treatment (septic) System Regulations on June 18.
The Work Plan prioritizes the projects Permit Sonoma will focus on in 2019-2021 and beyond. Top priority projects include the General Plan Update, a seven-year process that begins this fall, and land use and development planning for the Sonoma Developmental Center property in Glen Ellen. Permit Sonoma also plans to tackle the County’s cannabis and tree removal ordinances.
The county’s revised septic system regulations were the culmination of a 20-year process to modernize the rules the county uses to evaluate septic systems on rural residential and ag properties. Changes include how Permit Sonoma evaluates projects that need a plan check by the well and septic department. The county used to base the valuation of a property on lineal feet of construction, but will now base it on an increase in bedroom capacity. Another change is a manual that better defines a repair to a system or a replacement of it, and other process improvements.
