The newest vintage at GlenLyon's Winery.

Happy New Year! The past few weeks have brought stories full of hopeful resolutions, homes built with love, and new bundles of joy.

Squire and Suzy Fridell are thrilled to announce GlenLyon's newest vintage, their granddaughter Hattie Mae Hommel. Hattie was born Nov. 24 to Lexy Fridell and Graham Hommel and mom, dad, pup, and the grandparents are all doing very well adjusting to the demands of the cutest new vineyard princess. Similarly the Transcendence Theater family has announced the arrival of a future star. Micah William Surosky was born on Dec. 27 to parents Amy Miller and Brad Surosky. Godmother Meggie Ness was also on hand together with her husband Brian Ness. With a family like his, there's no doubt that Micah will be singing and dancing in no time!

Glen Ellen families are continuing to return to their rebuilt homes. Mike and Jane Witkowski, Arthur and Jill Dawson, and Holly and Red Milner, to name a few. Even the highly-anticipated red house is just now being assembled at Marge Everidge and Archie Horton's place, a perfect compliment to the yellow and blue ones that are already well-loved.

An easy-going blend of rain and shine together with fairly mild temperatures has made the beginning of this decade perfect for getting out and enjoying our beautiful open spaces. So many folks are strolling the regional park, Jack London State Park and other wild paths, under the winter-barren, moss-laden canopies of the oak trees to babbling sounds of the creeks. It is a magical time of year.

The buzz from around the bend

Dr. Melinda Phoenix of Creekside Healing in Jack London Village wants everyone to know that her practice will be opening at the end of January. The “goal as a collective is to bring back the 'Village Healer'…. the kind of doctor that comes to your home when you are too sick, someone you can reach out to anytime of day or night if you have a health concern and need advice.” For more information check out www.CreeksideHealing.com.

I have also heard from Lauren Kershner who owns Goodness Gracious! (private chef and catering). She used to run her business out of Glen Ellen but is now headquartered in Sonoma. She still spends time out our way offering her services at Hamel Family Winery, Schermeister Winery, and private residences. Many in our village know of her but if you don't, check out www.goodnessgraciouseats.com.

The next Glen Ellen Forum Board of Directors quarterly meeting will be on Thursday, Jan. 16, 6:30 p.m. in the restaurant space of the Jack London Lodge. All are welcome to attend this official meeting. The next monthly general meeting of the Glen Ellen Forum is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 3, 7-8:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Dunbar Elementary School. The Glen Ellen Forum is a registered nonprofit with a mission of “building a stronger community for the benefit of us all.” More information available on www.glenellen.org or jump onto their email list by sending a message to forum@glenellen.org.

The Jack London Yacht Club is holding its 2nd Annual Dinner Auction, Sunday, Jan. 19, at Viansa Winery and they do have limited tickets still available at www.jacklondonyachtclub.org.

Are you already thinking about your February plans? B.R. Cohn Winery wants you to know that they are offering a Valentine's Day Dinner, Friday, Feb. 14, 5:30-8:30 p.m. “Join us for a night of romance, wine and all things divine…” Visit www.brcohn.com/events for more details and to reserve tickets.
