Important election dates coming up
Are you ready to vote on March 3? It’s a big election year, picking a candidate for President of the United States and two big local measures that will have a major impact on local funding or lack of funding for fire prevention and protection (Measure G – see story page 1), and the future of Sonoma Marin rail service (Measure I).
Many if not most of Sonoma’s rural residents are enrolled in vote-by-mail (VBM), which begins on Feb. 3. Most people should already have their election information pamphlets explaining the candidates and issues. Be especially aware of the blue envelope that contains your VBM ballots.
VBM doesn’t mean you can’t go to a real voting precinct, however. Kenwood and Glen Ellen precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Kenwood’s is located at the Kenwood Fire Department community room on the corner of Randolph Avenue and Highway 12. Glen Ellen voters head to the Glen Ellen firehouse on election days, too, on the west side of town on Arnold Drive. They are open the same hours.
The last day to register to vote will be Feb. 17. The next day, the Registrar will begin counting the mail in votes.
March 3 is the Big Day.
