Overnight Sonoma Mountain trek at end of month

Join TrekSonoma and Sonoma Mountain Preservation for an overnight weekend wander across Sonoma Mountain, March 27-29.

Wildlife ecologist Meghan Walla-Murphy and historical ecologist Arthur Dawson are again joining together to tell a holistic story of Sonoma Mountain.

Inspired by the late Pat Eliot, participants will walk amongst the spring wildflowers and share meals under the stars.

Though a quarter of a million people live within a dozen miles of Sonoma Mountain, this iconic landmark remains undiscovered and barely explored by Sonoma County locals.

Over three days the group will walk across varied terrain, from ridge top trails and vistas of the bay to the deep dark shade of redwood groves. At night you will camp under the stars and enjoy local foods prepared by a slow food gourmet. March wildflowers will dot the hillsides while you learn the stories of wildlife, waters, and human history.

Cost is $495 per person. The weekend starts at Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m., and ends mid-afternoon on Sunday.

LandPaths, which is sponsoring the event, encourages those for whom cost is a barrier to apply for the limited number of work-trade scholarships available.

The trek is completely doable for anyone who is in shape to walk.

LandPaths provides all the camping and cooking gear, and all breakfasts and dinners. Participants need to bring their own sleeping bags and tents, which will be shuttled to the different campsites over the weekend.
