Glen Ellen Forum and SDC update

They met virtually, but they met... Glen Ellen Forum Steering Committee Chair Nick Brown conducted a video meeting on April 6 and it seemed to fly well with those who navigated the technical issues to get there.

The Coronavirus epidemic's shelter-in-place restrictions have uprooted business as usual for just about everybody, and the Forum is not immune. Highlights of the meeting provided by Brown include:

A town clean up day will be rescheduled.

Dr. Katherine Hargitt, a clinical psychologist, offered guidance to help people cope with stresses and anxieties that can attend extended confinements. Her presentation is available on the GEF website at glenellen.org, under the Corona Virus Info tab.

The group also got an update on the second Public Advisory Team (PAT) meeting conducted virtually on April 3, with transitioning head PRMD's Milan Nevadja checking in from his new home in Maine. He will continue to work with the Team for a while longer, though from a distance.

Participants described the meeting as a review of coming tasks, a prospect of a new project manager being hired soon, and the formation of Technical Advisory Teams that will include regular PAT members as well outside experts to focus on specific elements of the Specific Plan being developed for the transition of the SDC's 945 acres from the state to county and/or private owners.

In a related note, the specific plan team at PRMD has set up a new web page for community involvement: www.sdcspecificplan.com to keep people posted on the progress being made.

According to the webpage, a Virtual Community Kickoff will be set up between April 28 and May 2. It will start off with "a week of online visioning exercises, a game, and webinars about SDC." You can sign up to be kept notified of what's happening via email.

The first public community meeting sponsored by the Specific Plan group is projected for mid-July, conditions permitting. It will include walking tours and hikes led by local experts, games, food, and will take place on the SDC campus.
