Oakmont golfs again

The Valley of the Moon Club (formerly the West Course of the Oakmont Golf Club) was open for business on a drizzly May 14 thanks to an earlier Sonoma County COVID-19 health order opening up courses throughout the county.
There are operational rules though, such as maintaining a six-foot distance from others, no shared equipment, facial coverings are required, the flag must be left in at all times, all cups have been raised above green height, no more than six tee times per hour, and a maximum of four players per group.
Tee times are available at the moment for Valley of the Moon Club members (presently numbering about 135), and Oakmonters and their friends. Club manager Greg Anderson said he hopes to open up tee times to the general public later in May.
Anderson said that people have been eager to hit the links. Eighty-five people had signed up to play May 14, with another 150 scheduled for the following day.
“The course is in good shape and everyone’s having a good time,” said Anderson.
