Hiker injured at Regional Park
On Saturday, May 23, the Sheriff’s Helicopter Henry-1 assisted the Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority with a long line rescue of an injured hiker in Sonoma Valley Regional Park.
According to the sheriff’s Facebook page, the hiker had sustained significant leg injuries after a fall. The hiker was injured in a remote section of the park, not accessible by vehicle.
After fire and rescue people found the injured hiker, they requested extraction by air. Henry-1 lowered a tech via a 100-foot long line. The hiker was put into a rescue container and flown with the tech to a waiting ambulance.
