Kenwood Press resumes regular publication schedule
With more businesses opening up, the Kenwood Press will resume its regular publication schedule on the 1st and the 15th of the month. That includes July 15th, which normally we skip so we can go fishing in Wyoming and regain some of our sanity. But this year nobody is going anywhere, so we might as well work.
We thank our advertisers who have stuck with us thus far in this time of pandemic. This paper would not exist without ad revenue, and these advertisers deserve all of our support. And if you’re trying to figure out a way to promote your business in the northern part of Sonoma Valley, give us a call – we know the answer!
We told you back in April, but in case you missed it, we are retiring at the end of this year. We bought this paper in 1995 and have been living on deadline ever since. It’s a strange time to go, with so much news to cover, and we’re trying our best to make sure the Kenwood Press continues after we’re gone. We’re in conversation with several different people, but if you’ve always dreamed of running a small town newspaper, call or email us. It takes a village!
This is not a nine to five job. It’s a lot more work than you think. You will meet a huge variety of people, and if you’re careful and don’t make mistakes in reporting stories, they will learn to trust you and return your phone calls. Sometimes people won’t appreciate your coverage, so you need to have a thick skin, or develop one pretty quickly. But you will also hear from readers who are grateful to have this community voice, and that makes it all worth it.
