North Valley MAC starts Sept. 16

Approved by the Board of Supervisors nearly a year ago, the North Valley Municipal Advisory Council will host its first meeting on Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. Like most public meeting these days, it will be virtual and open to the public. The latest in a series of new MACs in the county, the Council will advise First District Supervisor Susan Gorin on events and issues in Glen Ellen, Eldridge, Kenwood and the surrounding countryside in the Sonoma Valley.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Sept. 9 but was postponed because of a severe weather alert that triggered a power shutdown by PG&E.

According to the agenda posted online (see below), the first meeting will see the seven members sworn in and welcomed by Supervisor Gorin, then open for public comment on anything not listed on the agenda.

The members will then learn about the applicable policies and procedures from county liaison Arielle Kubu-Jones, followed by a short training on the Ralph M. Brown Act for Municipal Advisory Councils with deputy county counsel Linda Schiltgen.

Kubu-Jones will be the regular contact person for NVMAC members and will keep the minutes and act as general administrator for Gorin.

Councilmembers Matt Dickey and Melissa Dowling will report on the Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission and the Glen Ellen Forum, respectively. Dickey is one of two North Valley representatives on the SVCAC and will keep the two bodies in sync, as they serve complimentary interests. Dowling has been involved in the Glen Ellen Forum since its early days

The meeting will wrap up with ideas for the next and future agendas.

Participation is open to the public at the Zoom meeting. You can sign up at the NVMAC website as well as see the current agenda at
